Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.~ Colossians 4:5-6 NIV
The Bible is full of instruction to how we are to act towards each other. It gives us wisdom on how to go about each and every day, living each day to speak to others and celebrate God.
So coming across this verse, it was a big eye opener to me. Though I have it on our Contact Us page I have to be honest, I haven’t given it much attention. As I came across it today. I stopped and did some thinking. My number one goal on earth is to lead someone to God. This is what we are called to do. I like to think of us a seed starters. Farmers if you will, carrying around a bag that says ” seed starter” and sprinkle it into people’s lives, like we would Miracle Grow on our gardens. We drop some seed starter and let God take over!
The thing is, is how do we act around others, our words and actions speak volumes about our character. As I pondered on about this, I thought of how might my words and actions speak to others. How is my tone….my words??? Are they really seasoned with salt and full of grace? Am I winning souls to God’s Kingdom? If I’m going to be honest and grade myself…I would give myself a big fat“F”!! No they haven’t been. We are the light of the world….that city on a hill as the Bible speaks of ( see Matthew 5:14).
If we are ever going to lead people to Christ, it needs to start with clean hearts, following God’s Will, and speak with words seasoned with salt and full of grace! We need to make every opportunity count to witness, we need to keep check on our words. The Bible says we destroy neighbors with our words ( see Proverbs 11:9). We need to speak with wisdom, grace, season them with salt and love. Speak as though as you are speaking to Christ!
So as I see that I have major work to do with my own self, how about you?
Are you and your words seasoned with salt and full of grace?
God Bless,
Amanda
